Which is better for African American hair, hot comb or Perm?

i have been perming my hair for atleast 7 years now, and it didn't start getting fragile, and weak till i went to beauty salon starting 3 years ago. So i was wondering if hot comb is better for your hair than perm, and if it will still produce the same result, as having it permed.

Neither but if you desire straight hair use the hot comb. I am not one for black women perming hair. Love your hair as it is. It is what makes you beautiful and unique.

well my hair is natural and it all depends. if ur going to be hot combing your hair all the time you should just go ahead and get a perm because your hair will be more ruined if you press it every other day. but i choose press because sometimes i like to wear my hair in an afro ponytail and plus the perm ate all my hair out for years i couldn't get my hair that long and now my hair is past my shoulders.

You guys have such beautiful hair! Since a perm has damaged your hair, try a hot comb. Good luck!

I recommend staying away from perms if u can. All the different chemicals eat away your hair. I use a hot comb but its about using the right one. The ceramic combs are the best to use because it protects your hair and doesnt break it off. There not that expensive either. I got mine for 40 bucks and it works great!

Neither! Both with leave your hair lifeless and bone straight.

You need a blow dryer and Redken serum No. 4 or Paul Mitchel super skinny. After your wash apply either serum to wet hair. You're now going to blow out your hair in sections using a boar's hair round brush. Piece by, piece. Then take a flat iron (yes a plug in one-and a good one, but you can go with hot tools if you must. STAY AWAY FROM OVENS). Press your hair piece by, piece. you'll love the reasults, and it's much better on your hair. No scorching and not a lot of products that are going to weight down your hair

i don't think you should relax your hair cause once you do it you will have to keeping spending to much money and time at the salon. hot combing is bad to but at least if you don't want it straight no more it won't be a problem but i wouldn't recommend hot combing to much or you might go bald i have seen it but i have also seen peoples hair fall out from relaxers. hot comb your hair but what i have heard helps when you do this is to add the heat protecting serum ( after you wash your hair) on wet hair but make sure after that you blow dry first on a low setting ( this is because heat on wet hair will cause the water in the hair to boil and break your hair this happened to me) then turn it up higher and after it is dry then hot comb your hair which would be better. i did this and it looked like i relaxed my hair. don't do it to regular cause you will have no hair left and invest in other styles.

i hope your hair looks great.
