When attempting to scrunch your hair, does combing it after a shower make it less scrunchy? REALLY n

i have naturally wavy hair that later turns a bit frizy. i didn't even try to scrunch my hair this one time i threw my wet head up in a bun so i wouldn't be sleeping with a wet cold head. the next day it magically looked wavy/scrunchy and i got a lot of compliments on it. friends said i should do my hair like that often but i didn't know what i did! so my question is when i'm really trying to scrunch it and do this step-by-step process reccomended by wikiHow, does my combing it flatten it and not give it as much scrunch as it would without combing it? i need fast helpful advice because i'm experimenting within the next morning. thanks in advance

My hair is actually the same. It's wavy but get's a lil frizzy if i dont put any product in it. Well what i do to get it scrunchy is i make sure it's wet, like fresh out of the shower. And i do brush it because it will define the curls more. Then i put alot of hairspray. ALOT. i flip my hair up side down and just scrunch it. But the key is that i blowdry the hair and scrunch it at the same time so it dries scrunched. Took a while to figure it out.

Combing does straighten it.

mine is the same. what works best is if i wash it, comb it with a wide toothed comb and then put an anti-frizz product on it.

Yeah stop combing it. I have curly as hair that goes frizzy too and the trick is to never put a brush or comb to your head. You only need to use your fingers, it will add volume and to control it, i Use Garnier Fructis Mosse and Sunsilk Smoothing serum- works great. Oh and to be able to run your fingers through it to get rid of any knots, i use a leave in conditioner- i think that helps reduce the frizziness too

Combing while wet does not straighten it. Combing while drying will straighten.

I also have the same sort of hair. To me, yeah, combing it makes it flatter. i like to leave it in a towel for at least ten minutes, walk around the house for five, and then go ahead and put product in it. BUT I use a blow dryer:

I flip my hair upside down after putting the product in it

Then I turn the dryer on LOW and warm, and blow dry it until my hair is almost dry. I scrunch it, and while my hand is still holding the hair all scrunched up, I let the blow dryer blow it.

I run over it again on a HIGH setting really hot, and then once more on the COOL setting to set it.

I don't use hairspray, or any other thing other than mousse.

Just make sure you keep your head upside down when blowdrying and try to get your roots as much as you can, it helps with volume.

well my friends wash it nd comb it then spray it with a bunch of hairspray and literally scrunch it up in their hands.
