Ladies, do you wear makeup and style your hair?

I'm one of those women who will not leave the house without my makeup on and hair carefully in place. My daughter thinks nothing of using no makeup, plunking a baseball cap on her head and going out in public. I've been like this since I was a teenager so this isn't an old lady thing for me.

Men, I'm assuming you don't wear makeup but do you shave and comb your hair before leaving home?

I've never been a 24x7 makeup person...I wear a bit of eyeliner, a touch of coverup, and lipstick and then only to work. On weekends I don't wear makeup at all...and yes, wear baseball caps! lol Not much of change from yesteryear...I prefer casual...

Now my youngest daughter is NEVER seen by ANY one without full makeup!...lol

And my son does not shave on weekends..

I don't go out without doing my hair and make up either. I wouldn't say that each hair is carefully in place, but it is washed, dried and styled. We were raised that when you go out in public you should look your best. I always make sure that my clothes are clean too.

Same thing here. Started as a teen too. If I am just going to run a few errands I'll just wear a little make up and fix my hair, but it I am going to meet other people I go the whole route. At home I wash my face and run a brush though my hair and that's it.

I have been know to wear a cap because my hair is very long! But, the make-up is always in place and was drilled into my head not to leave the house without it because you always run into somebody that you don't want to without it!

As in my teen days like you, I still don't leave the house without putting light makeup on %26amp; styling my hair. I take a lot of pride in how I look, especially when leaving the house. I also like to smell feminine, so I always use my Jovan Musk cologne, daily, even if I'm not going anywhere. Ditto for lipstick. As a youngster, I'd see my mom apply lipstick %26amp; would always ask her where she was going. She'd laugh %26amp; say, "nowhere, I just like to wear it."

For my hair, it's mostly up in a ponytail.

Nope not me. I did for many many years. Now I will run to the closest store ala natural. I do wear makeup more days than not. But it is not my routine to get up and put on my face first thing each morning. I did it for close to 40 yrs. and just am not as into it anymore.

Occasionally... but it just isn't that important to me. I have rarely spent money on a hair dresser so I would never be one of those little Lady's that go once a week to have their hair done. Although I think it is cute, the ones that do, that is. And, I do admire your wanting to look your best. I simply think that there is nothing wrong with going El-natural... most of that make up is not good for your skin anyway! The only make up I like is make up you can't tell someone as on... my hair is baby fine, always has been, so for me to style it, I must damage it and then spray on a whole can of hair spray or jell or some other concoction... Then I can't stand the feel or smell of it!

You know I have never worn makeup. At the time I should have been learning how (ages 14-16) It was the "back to nature movement" so I just never got into it. My mother is more like you and it just irks her that my sister and I won't even try on lipstick. When I go to get my hair cut I tell them to make sure it's something wash and wear because I won't spend even 5 minutes on it. I have 1 daughter who spends at least 1 hour a day on her hair. I have better things to do!!

Yes to both. I need all the help that I can get. There wasn't much in the way of makeup when I was young other than Tangee lipstick. I could get away with no makeup when young but as soon as some good products were available I was first in line. I wear a little foundation even when I am not going out. You never know who might knock on the door.

and always have my hair neat. I'm not as into it as I once was

because I retired and don't wear makeup just around the

If I am in a hurry to run errands, all you get is a washed face. But if I am going to spend considerable time away from the house, and be among other people, then I put on make-up and fix my hair nicely.

I do style my hair, every day but, I have given up wearing make up. I know this is bad but I get up , every day at 5.30a.m. and I just can't be doing with make up at that time of the morning.

When I leave the house, I put on makeup and blow dry my hair or set it or do something with it. At home, no makeup, no shoes and hair just hanging out on my head or in a ponytail.

I put my make up on and do my hair everyday, put lipstick on (I have a tube of lipstick in every drawer ) I wear make up and lipstick when I go to my exercise classes, even though I know I will be sweating! I am just one of those women that does that and always have, I get my roots dyed every 4 weeks. you will not see me without some makeup on, except when I first get up!

Nope! Haven't for years. although I am clean and well groomed, no make-up, braid or bunt my hair, wear jeans and t-shirts, just an aging "hippie" that prefers the very casual manner of dress.

I can still dress for a party, but the face and hair stay the same.

Not nearly as fanatically as I used to. Oh lord....last thing you would find me without is my make-up mirror and cosmetic CASE.....hair dryer and curling iron. I doubt I would have answered the phone without being done up, let alone go out. LOL Seriously....if they said evacuate....it was my make-up mirror etc. Now....I really don't care. Make-up doesn't seem to do the wonders it once did. LOL And well...the rest...who cares anymore. I just got done cutting 6 inches off my hair and nobody noticed. I get a new outfit...no one notices. Last year I blew about 200 dollars at the hair dressers.....came home and got...."I thought you were getting your hair done." There was a time when I got my nails done and someone noticed. Now I feel I need to keep from bathing, go naked and act insane and then someone might notice.....you know the crazy old woman. LOL

I worked for 25 years with makeup and great hair mandatory five days a week, after being a teenager with a mother who insisted on attention to appearance. At 40 I came upon a serious medical matter that resulted in a permanent disability. It took about ten years or more to start relaxing about perfect hair and makeup. Now at 60, erranding means clean hair in an acceptable style -- and if not clean, your daughter's baseball cap -- moisturized skin, lipstick, sunglasses, and sometimes earrings.

When it hits me to have some fun for myself, I do the complete makeup thing. Sometimes play with my hair to vary styles.

Way I figure it, time gets too increasingly valuable to spend it in front of a mirror.
