How to get rid of hair lice?

I'm not sure if I have had/ still have lice. I used a product yesterday since my children had lice and eggs and I thought I might have them too, then I combed my hair for hours but I believe it didn't work. I think I found two eggs on my hair today. So I thought I'd better use bleach. Would it work? I know it might make my skylp bleed, but would it work?

Use the lice product per instructions and do it again in 7-10 days. You also need to do a very thorough house cleaning now and again when you do the second treatment. If your family keeps getting lice, then you need to do some research as to where the kids are getting the lice from. Do they have a friend with this problem or are they getting them from school (hanging coats together where they touch is a common problem). Ask the school nurse for help. Bleach won't work, neither does flea dip or kerosene.

Don't use bleach! that's horrible! ok there are kits you can buy from your local pharmicist, as well as fine tooth combs. Follow the instructions and you should be just fine.

Essential oils are an excellent way of dealing with the problem of hair lice. Eucalyptus oil is one of the most powerful natural antiseptic oils. Tea tree oil is also a brilliant antiseptic and antibacterial.

閳?Try the following head lice treatment ~

1/2 capfull of tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil;

1/2 capfull of lavender oil

5 tablespoons grape seed oil.

(if you've only got the tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil for this mix then simply use that mixed in with warm water in a spray bottle)

The grape seed oil is used as a carrier and the lavender oil is for its scent, and its antibacterial and antiobiotic actions閳?All the oils together will be far more effective, no chemicals for sensitive little bodies either and far cheaper in the long run閳?br>

Mix all the oils together in a small bottle and shake to blend.

Massage thoroughly into the hair and scalp; cover with a shower cap and leave on either all day or all night. The following morning, shampoo the hair and comb through with a fine tooth comb paying particular attention behind the ears and the back of the neck ~ the hot spots, this will help to get rid of the nits. Add 2 drops of rosemary essential oil to the final rinse water to cleanse the hair of any chemical residue from the shampoo and conditioner and to nourish the hair. When hair is dry, comb it with a clean fine toothed comb.

Repeat the process every 2 days for a week, but don't continue on a regular basis after that. Instead to prevent reinfection simply put half a capfull of eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil into a spray bottle containing warm water, shake and spray over hair daily and comb through閳?br>

Also, wash all bedding and personal clothes in very hot water. Add 2 teaspoons eucalyptus or tea tree oil to the rinsing water. Hang in the sun for a whole day, turning inside out at intervals so that every part of the material (particularly seams and hems) receives the antibacterial actions of the sun and also the fresh air. Nits hatch out at 48 hour intervals so the treatment of clothes and bedding will need to be carried out every two days until the problem no longer exists閳?br>

Bleach is full of all sorts of nasty chemical irritants and you could possibly end up with a nasty skin outbreak or skin rash amongst other things ~ i wouldn't use the bleach if i were you閳?br>

Good luck hun閳?br>

Good health to you %26amp; yours閳?br>

****edit*** Caution ~ avoid using eucalyptus oil if you have high blood pressure or epilepsy and simply substitute with tea tree oil閳?br>

CHEERS

Use Rid lice treatment, It does work and well. You might still have eggs in your hair because they weren't completely combed out. If you think you need to, do the treatment twice. I would never put bleach on my scalp-or any other area of my skin for that matter. It won't kill the lice and it wil dry the heck out of your skin (and probably other horrid things). Best of luck!

These little pests are getting stronger every year. Buy the product from pharmacy area. Wash all bed linins in extremely hot water. Any place heads make contact such as couch pillows, head rests, hat, caps , headbands, hair barrette, even stuff aniimals.,,needs to be washed or thrown out. ALL combs and brushes wash and vinager rince or buy new ones. When doing treatment on hair be sure to leave on time stated. THE eggs are very tough hard shell and very tiny. I dont think bleech is good but I have used vinager after final rince but it will burn eyes so cover eyes well. Also if you have a cat or dog wash or check them also. The tiny comb is great for pulling eggs off that have not disolved and wash it in hot water also. AND in about 2 weeks you get to do this all over again as just one egg hatch starts it all over again. Put in lice treatment for more information. mamatx

Bleach, not on your skin. Any of that over the counter products works, bleach only as usual as you might clean around th toliet and bath but don't spash the stuff and don't leave it where a child might get it in their eyes etc. The eggs of those little buggers stick to everything, hair, clothing, bedding. Unfortunately you have to keep being extra diligent about you and your family's cleanliness or expect to be reinfected....don't let it drive you mad.....just wash and rewash with the lice stuff you get at the pharmacy....

I read this in one Philippine magazine and it worked for my on my niece's lice problem. I'd like to share it with you. Here goes. You will need a medium size basin with enough water to soak your hair and around 3-4 cigarrets. Unwrap the cigarrets and place them in the basin with water. Soak your hair in the water for some 10-15 minutes (probably more for some with longer and thicker hair). Massage your scalp while you dip or soak your hair. Then, shampoo your hair and towel it dry. Do the whole thing in as many as three times, and lo your lice will be gone! Try it!
